The wax gets into the material fibres and causes a real issue to remove. Another consideration needs to be colour transfer of the wax. Even if the wax is fully removed there can be additional residual staining left behind.

There are clear and concise tips and advice, key to successfully removing wax. An important tip is to act fast. Get in contact with your local carpet cleaner and let them know the nature of the carpet stain. The longer a stain is present, the harder it will be to remove.

Wax Removal

If you are considering tackling the wax stain yourself, the following steps should be completed:

Firstly, place ice (in a waterproof bag) over the wax. This will let the wax freeze. It is important that the wax does not get wet from any dampness or condensation during this process. This will only make your job harder.

Secondly, scrape off any wax you can with a dull knife or blade. Make sure that you are not compressing the was or scraping harshly at the fibres.

Thirdly, you should then apply brown paper or a similar product to the surface of the stain. Run a warm iron over the cloth to heat the wax and allow it to absorb. Again, it is important that you do not let the iron get too hot or hold it for too long. This will result in burning or damage to your floor. This step can be repeated until the wax is fully absorbed.

You may be left with some wax deep into your carpet fibres or colour transfer from your candle. The best advice we can give is to call on the help of a carpet cleaner who you can completely delegate responsibility to.

Our clients had spilled some wax on the carpet but luckily, we were able to completely remove it. If you would like help in removing wax, please call Brights Cleaning on 0800 695 3455.
